I have a Boss RV-5 for use with my JSX. I want to put it in the loop with my delay, noise gate and chorus. Currently my delay is after noise gate so that the gate doesn't clamp down on any of the delayed signal. Should the reverb go after the gate as well? If so, should it be before or after the delay?

Thanks.

Dave, I would put ANY of your effects after the gate, you don't want the gate interfering with the effects, and like you said, the gate would interfere with the quieter delays.

Just my take on this... :)

You don't really need a nooise gate with that amp...it has one built in. You can also put the reverb in front oof the pre for some cool ass tones a la radiohead....

Yeah, I know the amp has a gate but I do too. It's brand new and I never really used it. Maybe I'll pull it off the board.

Don't set it as a gate, use theother setting and plug into that first...instant silent rig...I've used that in front of several 4x12's w/ a Dual Recto (w/ no actual gate) and remained completely quiet, even during quick start/stops...

Put it in the loop yesterday, in front of everything. Set it to "Reduction" not "Mute" and have the first knob set about 2 o'clock with the decay at the min setting. Works very well. So far, I can't really hear a tone change but I haven't really done the on-off-on-off thing. The reduction light is on when I'm not playing and immediately goes off when I start to play.
