Some of you wanted a Neo 115 review. Hope this will help. Posted this on TB a while back.

I have been running a GK 100RB-II, with a GK Neo 212 cab, and decided to add a cab. I was thinking about another Neo 212, but my curiousity got the best of me and I ordered a Neo 115.

Heres what I think about the cab. I started off playing the Neo 115 alone with my 1001RB-II. For a 1X15, the cab is very quick and defined, not slow and muddy. I started with the horn on a very minimal setting. The cab has plenty of booty, and I was most impressed by its thickness in the low mids. Ive never heard a 15 that put out so much clean low end, while still staying very present in the middle and upper registers.

Once I hooked it up with the Neo 212 in bi-amp mode I was amazed by the stacks full bodied tone. My StingRay 5 sounded amazing. The 212, 115 setup yeiled very responsive and articualte tones all the way down to my low B. The upper mids sounded very clear and focused, and the top end was clear as a bell, very present, and not harsh.

Overall the Neo115 is an amazing 15 cab that changed the sterotypes I had about 1X15 enclosures.

Thanks to Dan Elliott and Gene Lopes at GK for all of their help. Superstar treatment for a non-superstar.

Excuse the pink shirt:

The 212 is 64 pounds and the 115 is 54 pounds.

Easy to lug, but my roadcases for em make em weigh twice as much.

I have a lot of American Eagle clothes. I'm stylin.

I heard Norm Stockton play through that exact setup, a 1001RBII through a Neo 212 and 115, and must say, I was really impressed with the sound.

They aren't garanimals????:D

Thanks for the post... I am toying with the idea of eventually adding a 115 (would love it if they would do a Neo 18)

Just out of curisosty... what league would you put the GK's in?? I currently have a hartke set up (as per my sig) I know that is a solid middle of the road amp... but i wanna get something pro... have heard a lot of great things about gk... objectively would you say that they are up there with your Eden's, SWR's, Mesa etc....? I apologise for my ignorance and if this is a little off topic..

GK's might not cost as much as the other brands you mentioned but that doesn't mean much.I'll put GK up against anything and i've tried em all.GK does the job for me and EB basses sound great through em........

The newest GK amp stuff is pretty cool. Great deal, decent weight to power ratio. A bit on the modern side soundwise for me though. I think its better than the current SWR stuff, and compares favorably to the Eden stuff. Hard to compare to the Mesa stuff, because its a bit different of a product. I think if I was looking for a more modern sounding head, I would snap a GK up quickly.

Yup, i definitely agree there, great modern tone.

As a fellow ashdown user i can imagine the type of tone you get. Im looking for something a bit more modern, hence why im turning to GK hopefully.

Real men wear pink. :D Nice rig, Travis! The weight of those cabs sounds really nice. My current cab is an old Hartke 410XL that weighs something like 80 lbs.

Yeah my hartke cab weighs a ton.... For me the hartke was just a stepping stone from a marshall combo into the world amps/cabs etc.... bought it the same time that i bought my sterling... one of those epiphanies when you realise that you are using **** gear and that if you want to play pro the only limitation should be your own ability.... Anyway now I want something that really shows off the tone of the sterling.... and am enthused by all of the positive reports the GK has had.... :)

Wow, makes my 400RB-III and 410/115RBS cabinets seem like "old-school" GK. All that shiny silver is freakin me out ;)

Glad it works for ya, once I can afford my new Ray, a GK Neo rig is right behind it. Never getting rid of my RBS setup though.
