Not exactly sure the audience your going for, but the term "sales monkey" seems unprofessional. The shop naked comment should maybe be looked at to. Now if your going for knuckle heads like us here, then your doing just fine. I like it. If your going for the general public perhaps you should look at those paticular terms as they seem unprofessional. No disrespect, I like it, just depends on who your aiming for.

Remember, he's not looking to sell to everyone, just musicians. Most of the ones I know will appreciate his humorous approach.

F###ing BINGO! That's one of the reasons I buy and will continue to buy from him. Show me any BIG CORPORATION who has a "personal" contact with their customer. Not gonna see it.

I have and will continue to buy from Jack,,,(have you seen his wife?!)

Thanks, Jim, I appreciate that.

I have seen my wife! She's just on the other side of this wall, in fact. Do you think I should go look at her?

Yes, you as I, are lucky men. We have wives we both care for very much and have been with for quite some time. (I'm in a "very lucky to have wife mood today")

***ATTENTION: THIS IS MY OPINION. THIS IS JUST AN OPINION. IT MAY NOT BE SHARED BY EVERYONE. ***

I had never heard of Jack Williams until I started visiting some of the bass forums on the internet but once there, it seems that he is a pretty well known and respected individual. A few of the things we like about Jack are his quick wit, sense of humor, knowledge of basses and unique ability to convey his messages or opinions without seeming condescending or a know-it-all. He is almost a wizard at resolving conflicts without seeming to take either side.

I agree with some others that Jack needs to sell Jack, not Ernie Ball. But I also want to add that Jack knows very well how to accomplish this task as he has been doing it for quite a while and is very good at it.

Well said, Larry! I'll throw in that Jack's straight-forwardness is what has me doing business with him (and Steve).

It's the 'anti-salesman' approach that I like, and used when I was in retail ~ a lot of times to the reproach of my bosses.

I slept well at night, anyway.

Agree with your agree. If I didn't know who Jack was (never met the guy, just from here and the pit) then why should I buy from him - that's the question. There are a lot of places for me to order a MM, and why should I send it to someone halfway across the country, at least in my case?

Well, I did order just order one from Jack and for all the reasons that have been talked about. I'm just saying that there are a lot of bass players that have probably not been here or the pit. And actually, I ordered a Bongo 5H LE. I've never played one, but based on his (and others) descriptions, it's just what I'm looking for. How often do you find a place that you trust enough to do that? This is only the third bass I've custom ordered out of the about two dozen I've owned over the years.

Have you ever seen an official Ernie Ball print advertisement for, say, a bass? Or a guitar?

Probably not. If you did, I can guarantee you it was paid for by someone other than EBMM. Distributor, maybe, or a dealer, but EBMM has never paid for print adverts.

Anyway, all I'm doing is trying to make it easier for people to decide to buy from me.

Marketing? Strategy? You're right - the basses sell themselves. I have to do what I can to sell me, though.
I have one in Bass Guitar magazine for the Bongo when it first came out. It's the one that says"Think of it as a Stingray on Steroids" but that's the only EB ad I ever remember seeing for a bass..........

At least one of the photos of basses (or all or them) needs to have a tort guard, to appeal to potential customers who don't wear t-shirts over long sleeved shirts (or hoodies)
