Certain Guitar Centers have them in stock - and the ones that don't can order them from the ones that do.

Careful with that one...

There are two GC stores in Chicago and one in Hollywood that officially sell Markbass.

At the risk of revealing my own stupidity...

I was on my way to Chicago one weekend to visit the inlaws. I contacted one of the Markbass dealers in Chicago prior to leaving and got pricing. I asked the Chicago salesman if I could order one through my local GC and he said no, absolutely not. Wanting to be a good customer to my local GC, I called them on the way to Chicago and asked if they could get me one. The salesman said yes, no problem. So I decided to hold off and get it locally. When I returned from Chicago I went to the local GC to order the Markbass rig, the salesman contacted all three of the other stores and none would ship a Markbass rig to my GC. I talked to the store manager because I was a little pissed at that point and he confirmed that there was no way he could get one.

But then again, I could be wrong. It has been my experience that most music stores in my neck of the woods have a hard time getting their hands on anything that isn't in the store at that very moment.

I went the Hartke route for a couple years. I used 410XL, 115XL, and tried two 410XL's but just ended up going back to paper cones. For the last decade or so I've been using SWR (pre-buyout) rigs. I really like them, but am looking into changing to Markbass.

Never liked Hartke, just sounded too harsh and I hated their cabinets. I have older Eden cabinets and a new 4X10 cabinet that I am selling because Eden changed their speaker manufacturer or at least the materials and the new ones do not sound near as good as their originals.

My current stage rig is an early modified Demeter VTBP-201 running to a Crown K2 with a DBX160A compressor. I run this through SWR Golliath cabinets or my older Edens. As soon as I sell the new Eden 4X10 I am getting a Markbass 4X10 and a little Mark II to save my back some torture.

For smaller gigs I have a GK 1001RB combo that works quite well, but still not a light rig. I really am looking forward to getting the Markbass equipment.

SUNN

I'm a sunn worshipper. I have a 1971 Sunn Coliseum Bass head (300W@2ohm) and a 1970's Sunn 612S cabinet (6 x 12" speakers) loaded with Eminence Delta Bass 12" speakers. I just bought a matching Sunn 215S (2x15") to complete the stack. I can't wait to hear the bongo out of this setup.

"Stage volume" on my rig is 2 and a half on the volume knob. If I want to piss off the sound guy, I turn it to 4. The loudest, beefiest amp I have ever heard (And solid state!).

I tried them all and always come back to Ampeg. The B2RE looks so naked when out of my rack!

Currently GK 1001rbII + Ampeg svt410hlf

It sounds pretty decent I suppose. I personally haven't had much to compare it to so it's hard to say. Regardless, it's definitely got enough power for my needs (full band practice + small clubs).

I've got Ampegs, 2 Ashdowns, and Ampeg, Hartke, Trace, Eden, & Marshall Cabs. I've got an Alembic tube preamp & that weird eq thing that I run with an SVT300 Tube power amp. Recently, I've been mostly using a GK800rb with a Trace cab--either 1-15" or a 4-10"--mainly because those are the cabs that are toward the front of my garage. I've been happy with the way that the GK sounds with either a passive or an active bass.

I also still think Hartke XL cabs sound good with the right amp--back when they were in vogue, a lot of people had problems when they were running too much power into them. The cabs are only rated around 200watts--& the 1-15" cabs in particular were a problem. My favorite XL cab is the 2-15" "Sub" cab--I run it full range, by itself & I think it sounds great. Hartke was its own worst enemy--it marketed the cabs as high power handlers--I've heard of kids running & blowing their Hartke 2-10" with an old SVT cranked up--*pop* *bang*

I'm surprised no Aguilar users have stepped forward. I've tried their amps on a few occasions and really loved the sound, especially paired with an Ernie Ball. One day I'll have my own Aguilar.

I heard Jamie play last night through his MarkBass rig - OH MY GOD!

Had he been playing a Bongo, I do believe the windows would have shattered!!! :D MB and MusicMan is truly a match made in heaven.

My GAS has been severely increased

Aguilar is my choice:)
Aggie AG 500 and two GS 112, that's portable enough and plenty powerful:) Oh, and no tone controls used on aggie and not on bongo. Just what the doctor ordered:D

About hartke: I have recently starter rehearsing with newish Hartke stuff, and considering it's kind of inexpensive it's not too bad. A lot of knobs, sliders and lights, but it sounds ok. Not great but ok. The reason I play that is that we share space with another band, and the rig is biier than mine like 3 times, so mine is easier to stow away...
