Ringing not buzzing.

Ok, so I was getting a decent amount of annoying buzz down near the 15th 16ht frets. I know my neck pretty straight, so I figured I needed to raise the action. I did, and now on the A string the string makes a ringing noise near the peg head. It's not a buzz, least I dont think it is deffinetly more of a ringing, what should I do to fix this or is this normal?

I get the cellphone crack, but honestly it doesnt sound good is this something to do with the way the string is postioned?

Maybe something to do with the way the string is wrapped around the tuner? Too high up on the tuner so there isn't enough angle pulling it down over the nut?

I am patient but you need to slow down and listen and think.

A bass neck is not meant to be flat just because you think it looks good that way.

The constant truss rod changes you have made and continue to make is making it spit the frets out.

You say you "know" your neck is pretty straight? Measure carefully and find exactly how much relief you have.
Because if you have buzz that high up on the neck, you have too much relief, ok?

Second, a ringing at the peg head side of things that only occurs when you play an open string most often means either too little downward pressure on the nut, or a defective string. make sure the strings have more than a full wrap around the peg heads (I like 1 1/2, others go with 3-4, but fortunately that isn't a problem with ebmm basses).

String vibrating against the string tree? Use a rubber band.

You may be using lighter gauge strings and the nut slot may be too large for the string and that could make a ring at the nut.
