I've just heard from an old buddy that Ritchie Hayward drummer of Little Feat has died. I saw him in 1976 when they toured with the Who and I saw and spoke with him a few years ago when Little Feat played Newport South Wales.

Uncut has a great tribute to him

... ...

Here's what Uncut magazine said about the man:

When the great American band Little Feat toured the UK in the summer of 1976, opening for The Who on The Who Put The Boot In tour, I spent some entertaining time with them, especially drummer Richie Hayward, who has sadly just died of complications arising from liver cancer.

Hayward will be remembered most for what he brought to Little Feat that made them so unique, his drumming as much of the band's musical signature as Lowell George's guitar playing. He also played, as his obituaries reminded us, on sessions and toured with, among others, Robert Palmer, Ry Cooder, John Cale, Van Dyke Parks, Robert Plant and Bob Dylan.
.. it goes onto say a lot more.

... I bet you'll be "chewing the fat" with Lowell on that great drum riser in the sky.
RIP Ritchie

Went along to see them at the Inigo O2 on Wednesday night. They all seemed in good spirits and Bill and Paul dedicated lots of stuff to RH. The 'new' guy Gabe Ford does a tremendous job of filling the chair. Apparently he is Robben Fords nephew.
