Just back from a trip to Merchant City Music in Glasgow today, and what a worthwhile visit it was!

I had my first real look at Black Sugar, on a roasted JP6. Wow, what a finish. I totally understand how difficult it is to show in pics just what a great finish Black Sugar really is. That goes for roasted too, there is a depth to the neck that is uncanny. What a beautiful guitar, and what a fantastic neck. My quick in-store iPhone pic:

I know my photo ain't the best, but thankfully we have access to some stunning pics of the guitar that the guys have clearly spent some time taking outdoors. Their flickr pages have some great shots in there:

Not only do they have a great selection of gear, as you would expect, but the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and totally relaxed. No pressure, no hard sell; all the guys are players, so it was a wholly positive experience. As a random visitor stumbling in off the street, I would imagine asking to have a closer look at a top end axe could be uncomfortable, but not for these chaps. Top blokes, they give the place a great feel; I like it.

Up on the wall I could also see a Y2D, a roasted Silhouette, and an Axis alongside the JP6.

Alas, I only walked out with a DiMarzio Tone Zone for my Axis SS today. My financial controller was keeping me in check. To the roasted JP6 she said no............. I took that as a "not today". I'll be back!

Great to hear about your positive in-store experience! We try to be different from your average music store and this just proves we are. :)

Merchant city.......nice shop been in before, very clean compared to Glesga's competition!

I wonder.....

you up for a challenge???

A while back this thread was posted....

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/49494-i-want-pete-colin-too.html

I want a new dealer, my regular sales guy left GAK and DaveB is MIA - so maybe there is an opening for a 'go to' dealer in the UK and for us to have a Colin or Pete Dubaldo.... I must have spent about £10k or so on balls in the last 3 years, and I can name you a about 8 or 9 UK based folks that have done the same... so there is money to be made of us knuckleheads!

I'm thinking of making a comeback in balls, and a gamechanger for starters. but you always seem to have stock in of Y2d's.... so I could be tempted there too -

So I guess if you wanted the extra business the Knuckleheads of Scotland (and probably the UK) are looking for a dealer......of course we'll all need freebies!

Fellow UK Knuckleheads? - what do you think?

Great feel to the place; will pop back in this month for a nosey at a couple of things I saw.

Sticky now sneak back and take that bad boy home, if the wife says anything say they lent it to you to try out.

Now, I like that idea! However, I reckon I'd get two hours of play tops before being rumbled.

GC in the UK, looking forward to that.

Freebies are good value, of that there is no doubt! :)

you up for a challenge???

We would be delighted to help any of you guys and gals with your Music Man queries. We have a very good relationship with the UK importer, Strings & Things. This means that we can get a very quick answer when it comes to checking stock and prices etc. Most of the Music Man guitars and basses we sell are built to order (just got a 6 string Stealth Bongo for a guy!), so contact us with any requests and we'll quote you. We are perfectionists when it comes to checking over stock and setting up instruments so you'll always get a cracking example if buying from us. As for freebies...we'll try our best to sort you out where possible! We are working on a new website which will have the option for a discount code in the cart. We could look at offering an Ernie Ball forum (Knucklehead!) discount, what do you think?

Sounds good to me - love the idea of Knucklehead discount - I suppose it's too early to ask about Gamechanger Pricing - what about it UK Knuckleheads? -
