rock tone settings Bongo HH?

What do y'all find works for you on gigs with a drummer and guitars? I keep the amp eq flat.

I find all settings at center detent (including piezo piezo) and a tad of low mid cut or bass boost is working nicely... if not flat. I'm using roundwound slinkies.

or I favor the neck pickup and pull some low mids if at all.

Suprisingly, all piezo with eq flat or low mid cut works nicely too.

what is considered the "front pickup"? Is that the one closest to the neck?

Yeah, generally people refer to the neck pickup as the 'front' pickup. It pisses me off actually because it's not in front of anything, it depends on which direction in a 3D space you are holding your bass to determine which is in front. It's closest to the neck...therefore, neck pickup dammit!

All of this is totally dependent on the amp I'm playing through and the tune, not to mention the room/stage/sound reinforcement.

bridge pu: 70%, neck pu: 30% eq linear except bass a tad down and highs a bit up.

works great for fingerstyla, pick and slap ... but also always depends on which amp i play through.
right now, this is a perfect setting for the trace 400 + 15peavey + 2x12 fmc. when playing with the 2x12 + 2x10, i leave the bass in neutral position ...

For Rocktone I prefer a little boost of the lo and hi mids, treble cut a bit and bass flat. Blend a lttle bit to the bridge.

Exactly.

Bright amp? Roll off the highs.
Finger style? Add more highs.
Pick? roll off highs.
Steel strings? Roll off highs.
Coated rounds? Add highs
etc etc etc.
