Does anyone here have a decent pict of a Rolls Burgundy Bongo 4 or 5 doesn't matter?

If possible one takein in good light to show what the colour actually look like in broad day light, I have seen a dark picture of it and I can't really tell if it is a metallic or a solid colour, thanks in advance.

Thanks pepperman, I had a good look, it appears that it is not a metallic colour although it also looks like the body is shiny and the matching headstoc is matt... or is it me?

Quite a nice colour though.

Even from this pic from S&T UK website it looks like the body shines whereas the headstock is matte.

Very niiiiiiiice Aussie Mark, you have a beautiful specimen there for sure!

You know I kinda like that vintage colour, it never occurred to me previously but the more I look at it the more I am taken by it.

I am a 60's child and that colour reminds me of those old bakelite phones with the spinning dial that you had to put the finger in and turn it. Some of them use to come in a very similar colour to that,

do you guys have any idea what is it called Rolls Burgundy? Is it anything to do with vintage Rolls Royce cars?

I think it had something to do with BP asking one of the rolls royce designers to help with colours, if you go on the Rolls Royce website you can see the colour offered. RB is quite an unappreciated colour.

As previously mentioned elsewhere, my gf's xmas present is a cheque for me to spend on a new bass or amp, the amp I already got so... I might try my luck with that burgundy 5 HH what Strings & Things appear to have in stock according to their website. It all depends if that is really in stock, and if no one else has beaten me to it, otherwise sour grapes indeed and better luck next time.

hey, here's one crossing his fingers for you!
The Bongo 5 HH is my definite fav, the end-all if you will, and the RB on the S&T site looks great!

Well not long to wait, my local shop "Chandler Guitars" (big up Chandler Guitars by the way) will call Strings an' Tings tomorrow and find out if that is a yes or a no.

Either way... it can wait and it will not be a rushed decision ;) thanks for keeping your finger crossed for me, luckily this cheque is both blank and not dated but I have a budget ceiling that I can't go over which was amicably discussed with my sweetheart and I don't want to take silly liberties on this opportunity

I thought you didn't like the Bongo...

10 points mynan you are correct, but.: I'll explain why and what made me change my mind.

I went to try one in a shop last month. This shop (name and shame time : The Bass Cellar) was a very small shop in Tin Pan Alley you couldn't swing an ant in there let alone a cat, packed with gear and no room for me to sit down and enjoy the experience. The bass I tried was a HH desert gold, plugged into an Ashdown amp and I think it was a 4 x 10 eden cab. The strings were old and I had no means of sitting down anywhere as it was standing room only in that pokey little shop, I was given no strap on the bass and the shop attendant couldn't care less as he was on his own and minding some hooded kids in the back of the shop slapping his way through the whole Flea discography at the speed of light. Put it this way: I couldn't hear myself thinking, never mind what sound was coming from the amp. The on board preamp baffled me as it was either too toppy or too dark with not much in between and then, being used to a pickup selector I couldnt tell the difference between the neck p/up from the bridge one. Probably the batteries were never changed from the day they got it. I must admit I was totally annoyed on having spent my day off seaking to try this one bass, having phoned 8 different shops to find that the only one in stock in a showroom (I wouldn't call it a showroom) was that.

It sounded awful and the fretboard/back of the neck was gunky and sticky. I left that shop, unimpressed and really peed off. I could have earned a day work instead of wasting it.

Anyway, last week I went to play at a friends 40th birthday gig and a few bands were alternating each other on this small stage, and after doing my set a nice young man had a stealth 4 with HH configuration, after his set I asked him if I could spend a few minutes sitting down with this bass and learning how it works so... I changed my mind. the bass was very well kept, the fretboard nice and supple (lemon oil had been there recently) it had a new set of black flats and this guy showed me a few tricks on how to get different sounds out of the eq, (bear in mind the guy in that shop only told me, oh yeah one is Hig mid, one is low mid, then you have treble and bass but I don't know which is which.)

Oh and.... that day my gf was with me at the party, she saw me playing this, and she saw my satisifed expression, despite the fact that she knew about the previous fiasco in Denmark Street (Tin Pan ALley)

Next thing I know when Xmas came I got that cheque from her and I thought why not? lol I admit it, I couldn't have justified spending all that money on one but she was nice enough to come up with this present. what is a man to do?

Official announcement

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

This is the Capt speaking
..-.-...---.--.-

I have an official announcement to make.

I have got good news and bad news

The bad news is.... The Rolls Burgundy was sold and not removed by the IT chaps at Strings & Things, (blame a yellow cat with blind man's glasses) so... no luck with that one

The Good news is.... Strings and Things are very nice people and.....

I've got now a........ cracking deal on.........................

a

BONGO 5 HH LAVA PEARL

The biggest mention should go to my long time good friends Paula and Neil at Chandler Guitar that together with S&T made me an offer I couldn't refuse, I am not going to repeat that here but, I swear it I just couldn't let it go when you consider the latest price increase of these basses.

Now..... I am none the wiser as to what exactly Lava Pearl is, they told me is some kind of red, which is right up my street and will go well with my SRAY5 Trans Red, does anyone have a pic of a Lava Pearl MM to show me?

Thanks in advance.
