After checking out plenty of EBMM's with the Rolls Burgundy color, I was wondering how people who have ordered a guitar/bass in this color like the choice? The best picture I have seen of this color is on the color chart on the Musicman website, and its beautiful.

Most of the pics I have seen do not look very appealing, perhaps it's the lighting, camera, etc.

I really like the color but just wanted to hear the reactions of owners of instruments with this color.

Thanks,

I had a Rolls Silhouette Special I just loved. One of those guitars I wished I'd held on to, actually. The pickguard is kind of washed out from the light in this pic:

I loved the reflection in light. The finish was awesome - reflective and vibrant. Hard to photograph.

beej,

I was hoping that the color was just hard to photograph. It looks beautiful on the musicman site and it's definitely my favorite.

Philip,

Good call on that DiMarzio link

yeah, I think this color is a mix of brown and cherry, I also saw picks where it looks ugly, but it's probably hard to photograph (like carbon blue pearl, always looks different)

Here's a closeup of my old one in the light. Contrast it to the popular "City of Toronto Garbage Bin Green" in the background. Not sure if this is helping or hurting :p

Beej,

That's exactly what I was looking for!!

Most of the pics I saw were really "flat" looking and I couldn't tell how sweet that color really is.......

Actually, I believe that's Pearl Redburst on the DiMarzio home page. Really hard to tell from the angle, but being that PRB is only available on the Petrucci...

Looks a lot like Pearl Red, older discontinued color, but it maybe the lighting as well.

I always thought that Rolls Burgundy was more purple, brownish, red. Though I haven't seen the color in person.

Philip,

You may be right. Upon closer inspection, PRB will usually look black around the edges in the kind of lighting that the DiMarzio picure has.

you're right, I also thought about that, even in the camera flash it should be visible.

Sorry for the bass content, but this is one of the most accurate depictions I have seen. I can verify that because I have seen this one in person as well.

smallequestrian,

I saw that pic on the bass forums, that's one of the best I've seen of rolls burgundy. Interesting pickguard material choice too, it seems you either love it or hate it

PRB can look different in different light - from pearl red to almost black and has a pearlescent quality (look at the light reflection in the horns of the Pets vs the Bongo) Rolls burgundy doesn't have the spectral range of PRB but in some light and photos can look similar

This looks more like Mystic Dream to me, the purple side of it in a dark lighting.....No Red at all....For the rest, I guess only the Bongo is rolls burgundy and the other ones are pearl redburst.
