Unfortunately, I have it from a good source that Pete is all sold out on the RW Axis.

So I guess you should go for the Y2D. ;)

Dan, he decided that this was the wrong week for that purchase because he has back surgery on Thursday.

Bottom line:
Rosewood Axis SS still for sale

Hah- tough dilemma!

Go with your first instincts- they're almost always right. If you IM Arin about the Rosewood Axis all the time, then that's probably your guitar. And if you get one at a time you'll really get to enjoy one for a while before you get GASed out again ;)

(But yeah, Keith's right, then get a Y2D later ...)

Sorry, for being slightly OT, but can somebody briefly describe the difference between RW Axis SS and a regular baswood one (besides cosmetics)
I'm really interested and no RW near in a 1000 miles perimeter..
Thanks, Dean

First of all, the body of the Axis RW is still basswood, but the top is rosewood instead of maple. I think that fact affects tone very little, so it's mostly cosmetic.

The big deal is really the solid rosewood neck. the feel is very different (and oh, so good!) and the tone is also unique. The rosewood gives more "ping" to the tone, and the harmonic/frequency response is different as well.

the tone is not better or worse, just quite different. I really love the tone of my RWAxisSS. It rocks hard, but also sounds really good clean in the middle positions.
