Dan, he decided that this was the wrong week for that purchase because he has back surgery on Thursday.

Hah- tough dilemma!
Go with your first instincts- they're almost always right. If you IM Arin about the Rosewood Axis all the time, then that's probably your guitar. And if you get one at a time you'll really get to enjoy one for a while before you get GASed out again

The big deal is really the solid rosewood neck. the feel is very different (and oh, so good!) and the tone is also unique. The rosewood gives more "ping" to the tone, and the harmonic/frequency response is different as well.
the tone is not better or worse, just quite different. I really love the tone of my RWAxisSS. It rocks hard, but also sounds really good clean in the middle positions.
