:confused:Does anyone here own a rosewood axis or ass? I know that Pete has one in stock with the MM90 set up...and I'm just wondering what the tone is like compared to the standard basswood/maple combination. Do they offer the rosewood with humbuckers?

THANKS

i dont own one but this has been discussed before so i think i remember some comments....

from what i recall the rosewood ass/axis has been described as warmer than their non-rw counterparts. try a search for threads that contain "rosewood" in the title to get to some of the previous discussions. some that i found w/ a quick search are:

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/19584-rosewood-axis-question.html
http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/18489-review-request-rosewood-axis-w-mm90s.html
http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/11750-sound-rosewood-axis-super-sport.html

thats what i found quickly... try a search to turn up more results

and YES it does come with humbuckers.

Never played one myself, but nearly bid on one last week on ebay...it had mm90's too. Some folks on the forum here have referred to them as "crackwood" becase they're so addictive...

I have both the Axis and the Super Sport with hums. I had an MM90, but I sold it to Robelinda. No reflection on the MM90 in all-rosewood, I just had to decide which of my three MM90 ASSs I wanted to keep.

Fabulous guitars, all of them. Warmer, but with punch and zing in the attack. The ones with hums sound very piano-like to me on clean and low gain settings. Both the hums and the MM90s both seem to have excellent balance and separation of the strings...the notes come at you like six separate strings, even on high-gain settings, and a chord decays very evenly.

The feel of the neck is amazing.

My ASS hardtail with hums is among the best overall guitars I've ever had, and while it may not always be in the #1 slot, it's always in the Top 3.

If you can try one, do it. They are great.

I called MF yesterday afternoon to check on availability and pricing and it was not on their system yet according to the woman I spoke with and her manager. They are not on the MF or PRG website either. The BFR Luke and PET were listed on the site.

Maybe Wayne (MFGuitarBuyer) can drop back in and let us know when their system will pick them up. :). His earlier posts indicated he would post a link when they were in.

With respect to the rosewood - I had the MM90 model with piezo and loved the sound. I sold it to get the Gremlin green AL knowing I could still order in the future.
