Hello,

I've just acquired a beautiful ASS rosewood from Mr. Sweat here on the forums, and she is in great shape. However, going forward, what would be the best way to care for the rosewood neck and fretboard? Would i follow the same care as the maple necks and boards? IE. gun stock oil, followed by wax on the neck...maybe a little mineral oil (when needed) on the fretboard? It gets awfully dry here in Bakersfield.

Glad you are enjoying the ASS!!! As far as care, for routine maintenance I use the EB Fretboard conditioner, use it to treat the fretboard, just let it soak in, I then use the same wipe, give the neck a quick wipe down, let sit for 30/40 seconds and wipe dry with a clean polish cloth always worked wonderfully on the all rosewood necks I owned.

Should be a sample pack in the case:)

I have been advised by Music Man customer service to treat the rosewood neck (backside) in the same manner as the unfinished maple necks - that is a periodic cleaning and Birchwood Casey Gunstock Oil and Birchwood Casey Gunstock Wax.

This. I've had guitars with rosewood and Wenge necks and this is what I did.

I normally nourish my JP6 with EB wonder wipes fretboard conditioner. It works perfect... I just only wonder if the strings could be affected by the citron-oil

Would it be better to clean the strings after wiping the fretboard with the conditioner?

TIA

Marc.

I use the oil on my strings with little to no negative effect. I just use a cloth to wipe down the neck and strings after the wonder wipe. I almost think it helps prolong the string life.
