ROsewood or Maple on A.S.S?

Hi guys,
I have no preference in which, but which do you guys think will better match natural A.S.S with MM-90 ?

Also, can someone who tried both rosewood and maple fingerboard on MM-90 equipped guitar tell me if there is much tonal difference?

I prefer the rosewood, but I think that with a natural finish that the maple would look nicer aesthetically. Tone wise... that's more subjective.

i've never found myself wishing my rosewood necks were brighter sounding.....but have often wished my maple fingerboard necks sounded a little warmer.......

my money would be on rosewood......

I heard someone describe it somewhere as Rosewood, has a pluckier sound and Maple has more of a popping sound when notes are picked. I've found that to be pretty much on the money. I've always found that any warmth or brightness can always be dialed in on the amp, or eq, but the overal tonal difference in the woods is the plucky, poppy sound.

If you have no preference and are going solely on looks alone I would say go for rosewood. I beleive JimiD has a hardtail ASS in natty with a rosewood board maybe even has MM90s if you wanna take a look at his.

Why do I pick rosewood? On pretty much any other colour I would say maple but the maple necks/fingerboards start to show some grime pretty quickly and after a couple of years you will have a nicely played-in and discoloured neck with a nice bright clean maple top. IMHO that's not gonna look too good.

I hate to buck the trend here, but I'd say maple! (Most of my guitars are rosewood however my ASS and Tele are maple and I dig the articulation they have)

It's all personal preference. I prefer the maple board. I like the way the harder board feels.
