Sorry if this has been posted before.
Just noticed while watching some Journey clips on youtube that Ross Valory was using what I think was a black Stingray with RW board on the Ellen Degeneres show.
Is this a one off or has there been any colaboration at all? I know he used Ovation during their most successful period and more recently Ibanez I think.

Headstock looks kind of slim.....could be a Sterling. I don't really know, though. Might be a Stingray, too. Crappy youtube vid resolution.

Ross Valory is a fine bassist, no matter how I now think of Journey. He did some work with Todd Rundgren that was impressive.

Oh, and Steve Perry looks GREAT.

Yeah, but he needs to lay off the facelifts. He looks practically Filipino.

Ross was using Curbows for years, but now that Greg has passed (RIP), he's apparently mixing it up. It's a Stingray in this clip--I can tell by the crescent control plate. And, Jackie--it's not YouTube, it's you eyes.

I should not be admitting this in a public forum, however I have their new DVD live in Vegas, and Ross uses a Ray for the whole concert ..................

I saw the Journey tour last September. Ross' bass cut out in the middle of a song and a tech brought out another Stingray. Still no sound. Of course I knew it couldn't be the EBMM at fault.... ended up being a faulty cable or D.I.

I think he's stringing the 'Rays B/E/A/D. He had a GREAT sound. Heart put on a great show as well. I just couldn't get use to the little Steve. The vocals were great though.

I got to see them last September as well up in Northern Cali, they sounded great!! They are coming through here again in July at the Mid State Fair in Paso with Heart. I will be buying my tickets next week when they go on sale! :)
