Has anyone used Rotosound RS665LD 5 String Bass Strings on a Stingray 5? Are they long enough for the Stingray? Is the tension similar to the strings that come on the Stingray stock from the factory? How do they sound?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I've never used Rotos on a Stingray. But I will say as far as sound goes, my experience has shown that they are the best sounding string for only about 1 night of playing before they go totally dead. I use them on my Rickenbacker, and they are heaven for about 1 night of gigging.

I used to use rotosounds with no problems. They arn't incredibly bright and do have quite a high tension. They do however give a very full midrange sound with lots of growl and work really well but MM pickups. I stopped using them because the tension was uncomfortable for slap and tended to make my finger sore easily. there great for rock

Like power cables, stiff and unresponsive. Will definitely require neck tweakage if you're switching from Slinkys. Very high tension.

I hate them. But as always, that's just me.

i wouldn't dissagree with that , they are stiff and maybe a little unresponsive but great for 4/4 lines like that of mr Adam Clayton. Incidently, I have switched to LA bella slappers but keep breaking em. I play fingerstyle but failry hard and am now incorpetating lots of slap into my set. Im thinking of switching back to ROTOSOUNDS just for reliability, but what else would you recomend. I need something with medium tension, plenty of growl but still suitable for slap. I thought id found the perfect string with the slappers but cant handle them snapping all of the time!

No worries, bud. Try www.stringsdirect.co.uk - they have them there & on discount for >1 set.

I don't slap, but I like a nice trebly tone, so I may well give them a try myself.
