Hi all!

I bought a new Axis in "Royal Amethyst" at my local Guitar Center this past weekend. Posted about it on the "EBMM, Peavey, EVH Owners, Players, and Enthusiasts" Facebook group and many folks - myself included - are wondering why Guitar Centers across the country got these Royal Amethysts in very recently and then immediately put them all on clearance for $2,999, which ain't cheap but is still either $500 or a $1000 off the typical Axis retail price, depending on the run and the shop.

The store manager who helped me had no idea why these all immediately went on clearance - just this Axis run, none of the others. My guitar is in perfect condition, was manufactured a few months ago at the end of October, has a great top and relatively unique appointments (e.g., baked flame maple neck, gold hardware, a rare classic color). If anything, it seems like this run would be on the higher end of the model range.

Anyone here have any idea why these went on instant clearance?

Thx

FOMO sales tactic. Oldest trick in the book. The 3999 original price is inflated rubbish to think you are getting a huge deal. But, in reality, you got a pretty standard 15% discount from what a quilted Axis MAPs for. Still a decent deal but not really "clearance" pricing. Either way, it was a win win for both you and GC. They got to quickly move a guitar that might have sat for a while and you got fair pricing.

I'm not a fan of the Axis but I almost jumped on the one in my local GC because of how sharp looking it was. BUT, I'm waiting for the Majesty in Purple Nebula 2 to hit the stores.
