RPS question

Well, I recently switched back to EB strings again after a long and dark stay with the D brand that lasted a few years. I'm loving the tone and feel of the EBs, but especially loving how well they stay in tune with tremolo use.

What I'd like to know though, is if the RPS strings would help even more with tuning stability. It doesn't seem out of the question, since stabilizing any possible shifting point could only help things, but I'd like to hear first hand, since no local shops stock the RPS strings and I'd have to special order them or buy on the web.

String breakage is not an issue (I use 10s and tune to Eb, so it's pretty hard to break the suckers!), my question is only about tuning stability, specifically when doing crazy whammy bar antics.

You won't have tuning "instability" with any EB strings, RPS or not. Once the strings are "fully" stretched out, they won't go out of tune!!

The RPS is for added strength against breaking.

However, let JD or another CS voice the official word on that.

The reason I ask is that EB states this in the description of the RPS strings:

"RPS strings last longer and stay in tune better than conventional plain strings."

It makes sense to me, since the ball end windings on normal strings could theoretically shift during a divebomb, and make the string come back out of tune.

Good point, since you read that on the pack. However, I think it was to compare with "other" companies conventional strings.

If I may add though, the ball end for certain will not shift - dive bomb or not on non-locking type trems.

For convenience, I string the ball end on the tuning peg side, behind the nut anyway.

The RPS do tend to stay in tune a little better. Not that regular strings go "out of tune" a lot .. but the RPS help in certain areas that a player might be looking for. If you play a lot of stuff that uses string gymnastics, it's smarter to use the RPS. No leotard breakage and they keep you hydrated

+1000 for RPS strings. I used to use Dunlops, GHS, etc etc... I even posted a recommendation on Dunlops, and got a very educational response from BP when i first joined. Of course, he nearly tore me a new one first...

But I remember using the RPS strings on my JP6 when I got it. Those strings came on that guitar from the store. I loved them. After that, the Dunlops didn't cut it. They didn't feel as good as the RPS strings.

Soon after, a local store just started bringing in RPS strings. I bought 2 boxes of those. Never looked back since. I actually use those on every guitar I have now...
