RPS vs. Standard

My apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseum before I arrived here, but I'm just curious what the differences are between the RPS Slinkys and the standard Slinkys. I've used standard Slinkys since I can remember, but I'm curious about the RPS.

Seeing as how my Axis has a Floyd, obviously the reinforcement at the ball end wouldn't help me much on my main guitar. But I just wondered if they do last longer and if there's any difference in sound. I've got one non-Floyd guitar now and hope to own an ASS and maybe a JP at some point in the future, so it would be good info to know for guitars where I don't have to clip the reinforced ball end off.

If you have an Axis with the locking tremolo (Floyd style) get the regular super slinky strings. The RPS strings have an extra winding around the ball end to keep it from unraveling - you have to cut the ball end off to use the locking tremolo.
