Rust

the dots on my pickup have rusty little spots on them, is there any special way to clean the rust off?

ps. i hate living in australian coastal areas!

Rod Trussbroken and Bovinehost have suggested using an eraser to remove the rust.

Know that the rust won't affect your tone at all.

so, the rust will affect the tone of the bass as much as the color of my bass does?

Oh, much less than the color. I mean, everyone knows that black basses sound darker and white basses sound lighter, right?

Once you get the rust off with the eraser, you can prevent it from reoccurring by occasionally rubbing a very small amount of Dr. Ducks Axe Wax or WD-40 or similar penetrating oil on the pole pieces.
