Rusty pickup coils

I've got a bit of rust on my pickup...from the sweat of my fingers I guess...
Sthat bad ??
how to remove it?
"the guy from the store" said to remove it with something but forgot I what it was...
aAso afterwards put some transparant nailpolish on it so it wont happen again ...

This has been covered quite a bit. It won't affect your tone, but it's been said that you can remove it with a rubber eraser. If it still bothers you, here're some threads with helpful info from the various guys on this board:
