So my 1st ? is: how difficult is the Jp trem to learn and maintain? Is it easier to deal with than a Floyd?

The trem is way easier to take care of than a floyd, but harder than a vintage trem. It's a floating trem so you will still have some of the same issues as any floating trem, but it doesn't lock which gets rid of some of the bigger headaches. Overall it is WAY better than a floyd in my opinion and I would choose it over a vintage trem if it were available on other models.

2nd ? (and this is a matter of opinion) - Could you see a Jp replacing an ASS? or more as a complement to an ASS?

The JP is going to FEEL very different from an ASS. The neck is thinner and I consider the whole guitar to feel "faster" and more "streamlined" than an Axis or ASS. The tone should be considerably different also since the D-Sonic is a pretty hot 'bucker and the ASS is made from Ash while the JP is made from Basswood. Overall I would say it would compliment the ASS very well, but you're not going to get the same tones from it.
