Received the SUB today and all I can say is WOW. I didn't know what to expect for condition; the ebay seller said "shows no signs of wear" but provided terrible pictures and a very short description. It's got the obligatory chips in paint on the headstock and a small nick in the body's finish, the battery's door is broken but still functional and the treble nob feels loose... but other than that it is in fantastic condition. The fretboard is amazing. I am very glad I rescued this thing from the "studio" it was rotting away in. The strings feel like they haven't been changed in 5 years... and I absolutely love the thing. The profile seems a bit thinner than any Stingray I've ever played, which is great since that's my only gripe with Stingrays. I learned to play on a Fender Jazz neck, so I'm used to a very thin neck... and this one's perfect. $455 for the bass, hard shell case and shipping, I feel like I just got the best deal of my life. Even with completely dead strings it sounds phenomenal plugged in, I can't wait to hear it with a brand new set.
Any one have any tips on how to get the treble nob tight? I don't wanna mess with it without this forum's "expert" advice. Also, a replacement battery door would be a great It seems to hold fine but it did fall off during shipping so I'm afraid it could fall off during heavy use as well.
After actually spending a few hours playing it I decided I'm gonna take it to get a pro set up at a local music store. I'm getting some fret buzz and the action seems a bit low. I'm sure you're all just gonna tell me a quarter turn on the truss rod will fix it but I figure take it to a pro the first time.
