Nobody likes the giant uglee PG. Some players are not
bugged about it, but nobody ever said "Wow cool PG !"

If it were straightforward to be away with it, you would
see far fewer of them. The SR5 in the new-ish "Classic"
series has an oval PG, likewise on the Sterling 5-string,
which is, exactly, the old pre-2006 SR5, but minus the
Giant Uglee PG.

The most widely deployed solution to the GUPG is to
play the bass in question. When you play it, the GUPG
faces away from you so you don't hafta look at it, and
the acoarst audience don't give a ratzazz about it.

so a custom control plate would be in order with this one

hmmmm

I got a custom Boingo PG from Jeannies. It's flawless.

Others have spoken very highly of Pick Guard Heaven.

Prolly $50 to 60 for your project if you plan to leave
the large central area bare.

Or easy enough to make your own. Have seen them on SR5's before, just cut the one side off.
