are the original design Sabre II preamps in those basses or do they use the Stingray design? Since the bright switch is not on the reissue I'm thinking the latter

Not sure what you mean by "...Sabre 11..."

The new Classic Sabre Bass has a 2EQ String Ray preamp board which is in keeping with all lever-switching Sabre Basses since their introduction c.1981/82 through to 1991 after which production ceased untill now. The earlier Sabre Bass, from 1978 to c.1981/82, which had toggle switches (including the Bright switch) had a completely different preamp board.

I had that ax. "Brite" is a huuuge understatement of the effect.

I emailed EB and they replied saying the resissue preamp is the same as the original Sabre design. I don't know if the customer service rep was accurate or did they use the original design minus the bright switch. They might have meant the design when they changed the switching in '82
