Rob, just got in after being away for the past few days and just finished a quick read. Hope that all is going well now and that Tom is well on the way to recovery.

Thoughts and prayers from southern Ontario.:)

Rob, I can't help you with much in the way of reassurance, because as a physician, I'm programmed not to get my hopes up about anything and not to give false hope. I am glad, however, that things seem to be looking good. Of course, I don't know where this is going to go and how things will turn out. It sounds cliche, but I think that all one can do is take things day by day. You might live blood test to blood test, as BP said. I think that's really all that I was able to do with my mother's diagnosis of breast cancer. One can worry one's self silly thinking of all the bad things that are going to happen, but you have to also realize that they may never happen. I just had to take each test/biopsy result as they came. For me, it was best to remain calm prior to each test, worrying only after a bad result came. If the test found nothing, I took the approach (and still take the approach) that no news was (is) good news.

People can and do get through these things. I don't know if you are a religious or spiritual person, but I firmly believe that there is a plan laid out for all of us. I believe that plan is designed to bring some good to the world or to us in some small way. It could be as simple as re-focusing one's perspective on life. It could be as big as driving us to create a foundation supporting research. It could be anything. I hope you can take some solace in the idea that there will be good that will come of Tom's illness somewhere down the line.

Rob,
my hope for Tom is that the tubes will need to be removed due to his incredible strength and triumph over this situation. That the doctor's would stand there scratching there heads saying "Goodness, that boy is incredible ... " May his recovery be inexplainably quick!! AND may this entire situation bring new knowledge, inspiration, love and faith to you Belinda and little Tom!!!

Still thinking of you here at Bungo Towers as well.

As someone else said many posts ago, if nothing else, situations like this give you a great perspective on life. Nothing else really counts apart from the health and happiness of those close to you.

Makes all the other stuff trivial.

Positive healing vibes going out to Tom tonight.

PS With all that air shredding I reckon he's going to be a JP player, better get one in ready for him?:D;)

Oh Rob - I sobbed my eyes out reading this thread, and then I saw your pic and started crying again!!!

We can't possibly begin to understand what you and your wife are going through - I feel so bad for having only just seen this thread. Needless to say, all of our thoughts and prayers are with you.

There's probably not very much we can say that will help, but please know that if you're ever up at bizarre hours of the night and all of Oz is asleep, you're more than welcome to give us a call if you want to chat, or if you just want a listening ear.

That kid looks like a fighter! :)

Wow Rob!
I can't believe how much he's already grown!
From the pic, I'd say he's doing really well. He's got some good colour in him.
I'm very positive that all will be ok soon. :)

That is FUNNY!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Lets hope he has some guitar talent in him, and then lets hope he likes EBMM, if he doesnt it wont be from lack of trying on my part! I can just imagine us going into a guitar shop and Tom says to me "what sort of dumb guitar is called a Fender???"
