Hey Guys, I have a silhouette special which has come to be my main gigging axe, over my 2 AXIS guitars, but I find the saddles on the axis to be way more comfortable, so my question is do you guys have any suggestions for the vintage saddle replacements, has anyone here ever replaced the vintage saddles that come on the Luke and the silhouettes? -

i've heard of people installing graphtec saddles on axis super sports, i'd imagine all the hardtail musicmans have the same bridge cept for saddle differences. you should be able to swap the saddles from the hardtail axis to your silhuotte.

i'd call EB customer support, since its their bridge design i'd get the saddles right thru them.

I've used graphtec saddles before and they really softened the tone of my guitar alot. Just wanted to let you know in case you didn't want any changes in your tone.

I'm in the process of doing this with my Albert Lee. Be aware that the vintage-type saddles used on the AL, Sils, Lukes, etc are narrower than most replacement vintage saddles. Probably most modern block saddles as well. I believe they measure 7/16" (or 0.4375). Most aftermarket saddles measure around 0.440, which will make a difference. Graphtech makes saddles that will fit, but they'll change your tone.

Personally, I'll just be ordering a set through Ernie Ball. For the vintage saddles, I believe they quoted me $25 for a set of 6. I haven't asked about the block saddles, but they probably wouldn't be much more.

Good luck, let us know what you do.
