The Luke w/ piezo comes with the solid steel saddles, so I'd 2nd the idea of using them to replace the stock saddles.

But I'd also consider the fact that Luke could have had the solid steel saddles on his instrument if he wanted them...

Great point. Not that customizing is a bad thing, but these instruments have been meticulously thought out and field tested to perform.

Brent, if you want a set of the solid EBMM saddles, I have a brand new set you can have. PM me with your address and I will send them to you.

thanks for the offer, if these other methods dont solve the problem, i may take you up on that.

I used to have 10-46's on my Luke and it wouldn't stay in tune if used the trem real heavy. I didn't want to mess with the nut slots, so I went back to the RPS 9-42's that the guitar came with. I also take a pencil and hit the nut slots with a little graphite and now I can get pretty aggressive with the whammy and still stay in tune.

that sounds like a great idea!!!! thanks!!

i'm beginning to think it is not the saddles now, i think it is the nut and too heavy string guage

Hey guys....I had Jon put the EBMM blocks on my hardtail Silo. I was thinking of Ferragliding the Sapphire Black one to get some of the bass response back. Traditionally, bent steel saddles are more airy and open sounding, at the loss of some punchier/tighter bass. It all depends on what you're going for...the airyness is cool for sure tho...but I find that I've been down with the punch lately...

I put the EB solid saddles on my AL just for the comfort of my picking hand - instead of adjusting my technique... it was just cheaper and easier!

Care to share what a set costs?

Good luck Brent. If it's just binding in the nut, well then you save yourself the expense/hassle of messing with the saddles.

As OC says, there's a change in tone with the block saddles. I tried the block ones on my AL a while back and went back to the vintage saddles- they have more top end and 'twang' to them, which suited me better.
