Luke/Engl cuts through better, but sounds less organic than the Silo/VHT. If strictly highlighting your guitar solo, considering your blistering speed and the faster response of the Luke/Eng, I prefer the Luke Engl. But, if listening to a song as a whole, I prefer the warmer and slightly saggier sound of the Silo/VHT. But then, I too am old and saggy. :p

I agree with this part of what Candid said. Of course, I believe that in an instrumental you want the guitar to cut through more. I also liked the overtall tone better with the Luke/Engl (which surprises me becasue I don't generally care for EMGs - maybe I'll have to give them another looksie - and the Luke for that matter!). Of cousre, I've been listening to a lot of 80s & 90s instrumental stuff lately and that may be influencing my choices. :D

Either way - fantastic stuff. Keep up the good work. SO, when can we buy a Tristan Klein CD??????

Both sounded great. If I had to pic one I'd probably take the Luke/ENGL rig.

Both sound great....
To my ears both have their strengths. The Silo/VHT sounds more organic with a bit more character where as the Luke/ENGL seems more precise having a bit more clarity.
Down to what you want I suppose I'd be happy with my guitars sounding like either.
Great playing as ever

As every bodys said, both sound very good. If depend of what's the taste you want to give at your song. If you want a warmer tone, who I prefer, take the Silo Spec/VHT.

I would like to hear that song but with the Luke and VHT to hear the difference between both, Luke and Silhouette, can you do this Tristan ?

Thanks Tristan!

I preferred the Luke/ENGL recording, but I'm not sure if it's the amp or guitar I liked more. Also, while the video is cool to watch your technique it doesn't really help for the comparison - I would prefer a high quality mp3 (192kHz VBR LAME is good) so that I can hear the nuances of each recording better.

Luke/ENGL rig. Like others have said, it cuts through more, and has more clarity (Silo sounds more muffled and muddy and not as balls to the wall as the Luke rig).

I like both, but the Luke/ENGL does sound a bit better to me. Cuts through better I think, but I like the warm tone of the SiloSp. Like Antoine said, I would like to hear the same w/ Luke and the VHT. Honestly, the old video w/ Luke and ENGL set up really made me wat an ENGL Savage. I must get one at some point!!! Anyway, both tones are great and good playing as always :).
BTW, where's your Radiance Luke eh?

The Silo Spec sounds warmer (and therefore, to me, more pleasing), but the Luke does cut through better and is easier to hear.

Of course, in saying this, I'm not giving any credit to the amps. :D
