Just a note: I dropped in the SJ GC store over the weekend to check out amp/speaker configurations and get a guitar fix on the road.

They did a very nice job with the MM guitars. It's quite a large store and right in the very center as you walk in there was an organized display with a dozen or so Luke's, JP's and Silo's (really nice).

I played many guitars that day, including Vai's jem, PRS's, Slash's LP, as well as the MM's. Guess what guitar stayed in my hand (by far) the longest that day - . . . . . . . . . . . .Silo!

I need to make a trip to my nearest GC and try out some balls i've yet to see/hear/play. It's about an hour and a half away - in Knoxville, TN.

Yeah,

It was "Slashy"!!

In all fairness I think it looks really cool.

It was typical LP, and Slash sounding, again, which I think is pretty cool. However, I was mainly concerned with the "back profile" of the neck. To me that is the issue with LP.

Even their thinest, slimmest back profile is (to me) too bulky, too much wood. Even the PRS WT neck is the same way. Then when paint/varnish is thrown on it, that slows it down too.

That's why I l love MM guitars so much!! Perfect back profiles and fretboards!!:)

Your absolutely spot on my friend.i have a nice LP standard with a thinner neck(60,s neck profile) but as you said it still feels too thick in my hands and very uncomfortable after a long period of playing.i love the thick sound from the LP,s but not the thick bulky necks.

Like you said MM have perfect necks and fretboards and thats one of the 1st things ive noticed about my BFR when i got it 1st.i can play it all day with out any discomfort;)

The Slash was a very non-LP feeling neck. It's a slim c shaped neck much like a Silo. But a bit wider. That's probably the ONLY LP I've tried so far that I like.

Colinboy,

Yeah, I have a "beautiful Historic Arts LP Deluxe", and it has the slim 60's neck, which isn't really slim enough for me. But I can play it for awhile (like you), but then I need my MM Axis in my hand!!

Whitestrat,

Yes, the "Slash" LP reminded me of a slim 60's neck right away, but with a slightly different twist. However, it "still" had that vague bulk feel on the back profile.

I simply love MM guitar necks (and fretboards, oh, and strings)!!!!
