Any one have any thoughts and the Tech 21 Sansamp DI Bass Driver? Particularly, it's use as a stomp box too your amp.

I don;t have any experience, but I've heard good things. I was possibly intersted in getting one too. Will let you know if I hear anymore.

Without a doubt it should be on the top of your "must have" gear list. Awesome tone, many different ways to use (preamp stomp, direct box, amp modeler-recording). Well worth the $189. Check out how many pros use it....you'd be amazed. I say definitely buy one.

Have you bought one yet? I owned one for a while, and somewhat reluctantly gave it up in part of a trade for an '80's Fender MIJ Jazz Bass Special (which I no longer own).

It seriously will make any amp sound bigger and better than it is, and is a must-have for recording!

I'm getting another one soon!

A bass player in our band years ago blew his rig, so he just DI the Sans amp and it got him thru the gig. You need good foldback to do this though.

Guys do you use any particular presets? I just got this SANSAMP box, and i plug it to the return path of the bass amp to bypass all the amp's tones (this way i almost sound the same on no matter what amp i'm using, as long as i plug in the return, as suggested in the manual). Thing is that I'm finding it difficult to find a good sound out of it...

I've used it in almost all configurations: to the preamp in, the effects return, the input to the amp, straight to a power amp, and direct to the P.A. or recording board--all with awesome results. I usually have the bass, treble, drive and presence at 12 o'clock and the blend at full. The drive sometimes set at 1 o'clock. If going to the amp input, have any amp eq'ing set flat.
I've been using the rack mount version lately and have no complaints.

Oh yeah, keep in mind that the effect return is before the master volume so keep that level higher than the level on the sansamp to avoid possible unwanted distortion....

What is this box anywa? I've never heard of it. Does it fatten sound? If any of you have read any of my posts you know I'm always lookin for fatter and thicker and less string sound.

What would this little box do combined with my Ampeg SVT Classic/8 x 10's?
