Off Topic Santa brought me an AWESOME practice tool… Vox Amphones

One of my holiday gifts just landed on the doorstep. The new Vox Amphones.

These are basically Audio-Technica headphones with a Vox Amplug practice widget built into them.

I've been using the Amplug for quite a while now as my go-to practice and learning tool. I don't even have an amp in my office at home. I really like it, but it does leave this fairly fragile box thing hanging off the edge of your guitar.

I am duly impressed with the Amphones. They sound GREAT!

Plus you can use the headphones as… headphones. Nice.

Love the Amplugs. This seems like a logical extension to embed it in a decent-quality headphone.

Yeah, I've really come to like the Amplug. It does leave this awkward, fragile box hanging off your bass, however. I expect it to fail one day… I've stepped on either my headphone wire or ipod cable more than once and yanked the thing right out of the jack a number of times.

Even though the Amphones have the same number of wires to deal with (two) for some reason they don't seem to be in the way as much.
