Oh guys!

I have managed to experience every conceiveable emotion this week I think - and along with me, Trev is stunned by the generosity of almost complete strangers! Imaginary friends indeed ;)

I'm just so thrilled that I can now keep my bass thanks to all of your efforts. I honestly don't expect for us to reach the target (I can't believe there even IS a target), but every little bit certainly does help and we appreciate it more than words can say.

In some ways I felt awful when I saw Ritchie's post as I hate asking for money - and I really didn't hope it came across as us asking - things have just been such a mess recently and we needed to raise funds asap!

I am more grateful than I can say - and I know there's nothing I can do to repay you guys - ever. Needless to say neither of us will ever use another brand of guitar :)

We just ask that our names be engraved in those two guitars...... JUST KIDDING.

Hey, you're in need of help and here we are. That's all I can say. And once pay day rolls along (this coming Thursday), I may be able to pitch in some more if needed.

Here's an idea: (just an idea) We should make a forum shirt on Zazzle.com (that custom T-Shirt company) and put the proceeds towards this. Just an idea...... For those of you that don't know. Zazzle.com makes t-shirts, mugs, etc. They started with just shirts (now you can get Ts, Hoodies, Polos, etc.). The person that designs the shirt gets a discount when buying your own shirt. When others buy the shirt, the designer of the shirt gets a percentage of the purchase. We could have someone with a Zazzle account (Ritchie if he has one, or he can set one up for free) design a shirt and post the link to it and then the money could go towards the guitars.....

Put those bad feelings away, my dear! I am sure I speak for everyone when I say we are all just glad to be able to help out a friend. Imaginary or otherwise! :D
I have been in the same situation, and watched all my beloved instruments walk out the door. If we can prevent that from happening to you, it's all worth it!

As I have said before, you are in an oasis of harmony! And friendship! :D

May every cloud have a silver lining, Azzy!

The Mighty Forumites have struck again! As Foreigner put it on their live version of "Hot Blooded":

"We've got the amps, you've got the numbers. There's STRENGTH in numbers!"

:D

Happy weekend everyone!

The first wave is away!

Just sent the donations as of this afternoon!

Grand total: $1478.59

:D KA-POW! :D

I know Paypal will take a chunk.....But if I can count, and the conversion is right, that should be somewhere in the £700.00 range! perhaps even a bit over!

Once again, to everyone who has contributed, your karma is up by 10,000 points!

Thank you all so very much!

Let's see how far the donations will grow, shall we? :D

Someone tell me another forum where something like this could happen.

Actually, there is another bass forum where this type of thing used to happen regularly and with great participation. Some examples off the top of my head -

Paying medical bills for a forumite who had heart surgery

Setting up an education fund for the son of a forumite who died of cancer

Helping a forumite buy food and pay bills when he was going through tough times and living in his car

That's just three examples. Yes, the EBMM forum is a great place and some good deeds have been done, but it's not fair to say that folks elsewhere on the web do not pitch in to help a worthy cause.

I was just acknowledging the fact that this a great forum and it's not many other places that would do this.

Chill. :)

No probs, Stanky, I'm chilled. I was just speaking on behalf of the Knuckleheads who post here who have also been contributors to deserving causes at that other bass forum in the past. I've kicked in to the Azzy fund, as well as the Jean-Paul The Idiot Who Gave His Bass To A Drummer Who Pawned It fund, and the Let's Buy Tiffles A Sterling For Her Birthday fund.

"Used to happen" is the key verb tense.

I, too, have happy memories of what once was, but that, again, is in the past. Let's just leave it there, shall we? You and I go way back but I think it's hard to imagine that those good deeds would happen now.

I hope we can always be what we are now. The "other place" is not quite what it once was, but this forum has always been what it is RIGHT NOW, and I suspect that we can, if we're careful, keep this sense of family.

Agreed 100% Jack. Hence, my specific use of tense to reflect that. The EBMM forum, and another newer forum that also has cool limited edition basses for forumites to spend their money on are the two places I kill quality time with imaginary internet friends these days. The other place you mentioned is shrinking fast.
