I located a CAR Bongo H at a dealer near me and went to check it out after work. Didn't get to really experience the H hype, because the only bass amp in the place was a ridiculous Randall practice amp with a six- or eight-inch speaker (!).

I happen to have the entire band's rig in the back of my car along with my own Bongo, but I didn't have time to set something worthwhile up. Darn.

But I was able to get a good look at the color, and I'm sorry to say it isn't what I'd imagined it would be. It's not the color in my head. It's more....brown?

CAR had been moving up to second-fave color after DG/Tort, but now I'm not so sure. The satin headstock and neck of the thing DEFINITELY didn't do it for me.

No such thing as EBMM "CAR"...it's "CR"

Ah, that 'splains it. I was expecting classic hot-rod Candy Apple Red....

When you say satin head and neck, don't all bongos have the same head/neck? I so, why is it different from your other bongos?

I don't have a bongo, so I'm not really sure I know what I'm talking about :D

I wasn't clear. I meant that color in the satin finish. I got no probs with the satin finish per se...I really like the feel.

The actual paint color of the head/neck and body are, AFAIK, the same...but the gloss finish on the body makes it look very different from the headstock and neck.

No harm, no foul...at least everybody here knows I'm still loyal to EBMM; one P-Bass notwithstanding. :)

I see a bit of brown in it as well...It's a beautuful finish...reminds me of the color of a garnet.

Dr. Pepper is also a good analogy to me.
