Grandpa shi- err.. Luke,

Man, I can't believe Sterling got you to join this motley crew. This is now officially the coolest online forum that the world has ever seen!

I've been reading about you in guitar mags for decades, but I've never really heard any of your stuff (except some Toto, obviously). Actually, I've probably heard you a million times due to your session work, but where would you direct me as a good starting point for all things Luke?

This is too cool. This place is amazing - and it keeps getting better. Now if I could only think of some useful things to say!

I'd like to second SteveB's request. I do want to familiarize myself with your work before I get to the open house. Where should I start? I already have some recommendations from the guys here, but I'd like to hear your opinion! :D

I was gonna yell 'Play Rosanna!', but I figured that'd piss you off....not a good way to start out. (Just kidding - I read the other thread.)

I'd go with the Los Lobotomy's DVD. You can see the guitar in action and it's steve playing some great stuff along with him singing.

Or you can wait, and absolutely be amazed at the open house. (might be the way to go...you can always get cd's and dvd's...but being totally blown away is kinda cool, ask koogie RE: Steve Morse.)

For Sheer guitar playing and Sound: The Candyman CD (if you can, Check out the 5.1 Version, there are guitar parts I never knew were there!!!) and Toto's Kingdom Of Desire. For a mellower version Toto's Tambu (HIGHLY Underrated!). I personally am also a HUGE fan of the LUKE CD, I just like the overall Darker Vibe, the guitar tones are much more organic, NOT alot of flash. Also, check out the Live in Paris DVD if only for the outro solo on "I'll Be Over You" For older stuff check out Toto's Hydra and much of Turn Back, GREAT Playing. Of course everyone knows the hits as well.

The thing is, he's a regular Joe! Very down to earth. Does he know who he is? How good he is?
Amazing!
