Tim, If I may be so bold, Clapton's carear far outways any of ours!- Lucious etc. withstanding. as far as I recall he's had over 20 albums since layla, unplugged was mega and lots more....

I'm not a clapton nut or anything, I just can't understand why you would not give credit to a potential cornerstone of the guitar community and no matter what brand of instrument you play you must recognise his considerable ongoing contribution to guitar and music.

Smellybum.

Maybe its me. I have never 'got' Clapton at all. Yes, he is very sucessfull and influential and all and he is up there with all the big names. I personally feel his best work was at the start of his career and just find that he does nothing for me. But that said, I adore every note that Brian May plays, and I expect that he is not everyones cup of tea.

Thought I'd chime in...Clapton is great. If you want the best of that era, and someone who keeps growing, you have to check out Jeff Beck. He just played this past week and it was the best show I'd seen in a long time! Amazing that this guy is in his 60s and rocks so freaking hard. Just my 2 cents:) EC is great, but if you ask me, Beck is God.

i have a dvd of John Mayall's 25th ann concert, Clapton plays on it, but is BACKSEATED big time by Buddy Whittington, Mayall's regular guitarist. Clapton just stays away as Buddy smokes him off the stage. Great to watch, Buddy is one amazing blues/country player.

..and Buddy is a big Dr Z man!
