I was at the Dream Theater concert in San Diego last night (they absolutely rocked it btw)
and when they came out to play Breaking All Illusions I saw it! It's was very different looking as far as the horns go. There literally just a little stub for the bottom horn it almost looked like Albert Lee's horn and the finish was really different as well. I can't even explain it. I wish I had more information but that guitar WAS NOT like any other guitar he has. Like at all! And the SUSTAIN ON THAT THING WAS BEASTLY! ABSOLUTELY NO WAY AROUND IT YOU COULD INSTANTLY HEAR THE DIFFERENCE!

It was an obvious difference in appearance. Seriously the bottom horn was almost non existant in comparison to his other guitars. The finish was odd it was dark but there was another color only around the right hand that almost made I look like it was glowing and this other color was ONLY around his hand it was neat but the glow was almost a greenish tint. I don't know if it was due to stage lights but the most noticeable difference was the sustain it had. My god.....

Also, when I first saw it I thought it had kind of an oval pick guard on it but as I moved forward I noticed it was just the finish. It was really quite beautiful. I'm sure this guitar is going to be expensive :(

No. For sure wasn't an AL. Could have been the JP 12. I don't know John did raise it up after the song was over showin it off. Maybe it was the first time he used it live or something. In sure that since we're so close to NAMM they're no worried about leaks of photos. It was a small venue with only 1400 seat. Security was VERY strict about photos which is why I didn't even try to get a picture.

Maybe it is not completely finished and JP is just giving it a trial run to see if any changes need to be made. BP has ALWASYS shown us the goods when it is fully completed. Thanks for sharing though.

Actually... That could very well be it! But I swear the horns looked different just having a graphic on it like that wouldn't make the shape appear different would it? Even from a distance.

well yes actually. like i said that would explain the green hue i saw around his strumming hand. like i said though that wasn't what first caught my eye. the body of the guitar was strange and there was a such incredible clarity and sustain when he played you could hear the difference for sure on it.

just throwing this out there though to cover my ass in the future. I could be COMPLETELY wrong.
