I HAVE A BONGO!!! YAY!!!!

It just came to me from Canada (hence the neck removal)

I'm taking it to the Bass Centre tomorrow to get it set up but they are telling me it will take a couple of days.

So that means monday will be the day i actually get to play it

they are closed sundays.

But anyway here's the proof i got a Bongo (even if it is in pieces)

Cool, love the teal pearl!
But a couple days to bolt the neck on and string it up? Seems that could be done in 15 minutes, but that's just me...

I have never fitted a neck before.

I figured starting my guitar maintainance hobby my Bongo was a bit ambitious

Just put the neck back on, tighten the bolts (don't over-tighten) and string it up. It's not rocket science and you may be surprised how easy it is.

Nice Bongo!

Why was the neck removed? Canada? I just got done taking apart 2 basses to shoot the back of the necks - it's nothing really - just do it yourself - it will actually take you 10 minutes!

The neck was probably removed to make it cheaper to ship. I just had to ship a bass to Australia, took the neck off and the package was much smaller, only cost me $60 to ship it as opposed to the hundreds it costs in a HSC.
That's a beauty and I agree with the rest of the guys here, just tighten the screws and string her up. Hopefully it will be fine with no issues.

thanks for the support guys

I put it together last night, everything seems to be in order.

For those of you who were wondering, the price to send a complete bass to Melbourne, Aus from Montreal Canada was US$400

with the neck removed it was US$155

Next on the agenda are some new picguards!!:)

Again thanks, just goes to show how supportive this forum is.

You guys rock

I'm gonna go play my Bongo now!!!!

Hey mate,

I wouldn't worry. The first time I ever removed a neck was on my SR4. And with the truss rod wheel it makes it really easy to quickly set it up yourself in less than 10 minutes.

Come to think of it, the reason I had to remove my neck in the first place was because of the truss rod wheel. I tried turning it with something weak, and it snapped off inside and wouldn't come out. So I had to remove the neck and poke it out.

I'm glad you've got yours all set up. The guys at The Bass Center are cool, but yeah, a couple of days for a 10 minute job? Bit slack.
IMO you should be able to walk into a store, given that there is an employee doing nothing, have him set it up while you go get a coffee or something, come back and take it home.

True that Roon

I actually just got back from the Bass Centre 10mins ago.

I took the bongo in for them to have a look at (I didn't tell them it was me enqiring the other day about a set up), I have a regular guy i deal with, Darren, I just handed it to him and said "I just got this, have a play tell me what you think"

first thing he said "wow it's set up nice, have you had it set up yet?"

Validation!!!!

I really respect Darren's opionion over all others because he'll actually stop you from buying unnecessary crap, rare in music shops.

Oh yeah and the bass sound like an absolute monster:p

I can't wait for rehearsal

See? It wasn't hard.

And once you get that sucker cranked up with a band......you probably already suspect that you're on your first Bongo, but not your last.
