Hey Felix (I know it's made up!),

It's okay to talk candidly about your addiction, because we understand!! We have no recovery here - no need for it. You can remain a bass-a-holic for as long as you want.

(setting down pad and pen)
The main thing is to stick with "top shelf" supplies, i,e, EBMM guitars, basses, (amps, fingers crossed). Have funnnnnnnnnnn.

See you at the next session.:)

Warm welcome

What a warm welcom.

Thanks guys. sorry about the garbled insanity of first post. I dont know what I was on..........yes I do, Guiness, brandy......... it was a hard day.

A bit more about me & mine.

I use;

Basses

2002 thing (soz) Stingray

Fender jazz with semour dunk quater pounders

Squire reissue fretless. (Value for money bass that!)

Amps

The dinky & yet mighty meaty Mark Bass Micro. (Issue number 5 for all the serial heads out there)

Eden Nemesis NA 650 (Dreamy & creamy with very pretty lights on it.....call me shallow)

Behringer rack tuner. (Also with pretty lights on it.)

2 Bass Head (locally hand made) front facing reflex cabs each with 1, 10inch (topest of top, was told type by maker who was shouting over me playing through them at the time. Wasnt listening again:() speakers & 2 heavy duty horns in.

Not mega bassie or mega loud but at solid gigging volume much hearoom & big spread of sound thanks to cleverly designed cabs. The Eden just gives out what the bass delivers without any big fuss. Very cool amp I think. Did I mention the pretty lights?

The only questions I have to ask the more learned company I find myself in is.......

What does the panel think about modifying Stingrays?

Hack away with gay abandon.........or even on your own:p

Do it but nothing permanent, eg hole drilling & routing?

Do it but keep the bits so you can put it back to the original?

Only customise little bits like scratch plates etc?

Dont even think about it blasphemer?

I am not a bass hacker. I buy what I like to play not to try & improve it. I was just thinking of getting a nice abalone scratch plate for it but I am unsure as to whether this is sacreligeous (& how to spell sacreligeous) or not.

Your thoughts people please:)

Hi Felix

Welcome to the board. What IS sacriligeous is not posting pics of your 'thingray' ... :)

You'll find several people here have personalised their basses - e.g. pickguard replaced.

I personally wouldn't do anything permanent to my basses (I don't need to! - quite happy with them in their factory state) - but its your bass .....

Yo tkater

Sorry peoples. I do talk a reet lood a bloks sumtimes but then I is a potty Brit (due defference to all the other potty Brits on this site) so what do you expect?

Tkater, sorry, "please pass the Jack Daniels my good man" :) is what I meant to write but in a state of enebriation, (my spelling probably sucks right there) that comes out as,
"Pash the fegin Jack ya *%$&";)

So, the burning question is please, where do I get a nice alabony.....alamony......abbalonley. (feg), shell like pick guard from please. (Is it only just me who has always had a problem saying albalony or what?)

Pics will come soon but begining of school year a mad time so please bear with. It is just a 3 band in black so nothin mad but the feel, the finish..(shiver).. hear the sound (Q body buzz). They are an instrument to play raher than look at methinks.

Cheers all, Felix.:)
