Question SBMM JP60 comparison with a EBMM JP6

Hey, I tried using the search function and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so I thought I'd make a thread. I'm trying to make a comparison between the SBMM J60 and the EBMM JP6. I know the short answer is that the JP6 is slightly better in every way but I wanted to find out just how different they are.

I know already that the JP60 has no Piezo, no cool finish, no birdseye maple neck and different pickups. Probably different pots?

What I'm not sure about is:

Dimensions/feel of the neck
Quality of the tremolo
Size and type of frets

I'm really just looking to try and get the JP6 playability more than the look and tone because I've played them and they're fantastic! I will be replacing the pickups and possibly making some other modifications also.

The main top of the list thing that I want to establish is how does the feel of the neck differ or is it exactly the same dimensions.

Here you go buddy! I made a comparison based on my experience. I should tell you one thing though, SBMM make great guitars for mid range prices and from recent threads I've seen Brian from SBMM giving exceptional after sales customer service to those in need.

You mentioned that you think the neck feels thinner but is it actually thinner? Also are the fret size and shape the same and just a different material?

I'm basically trying to work out whether to buy a jp60 or a used jp6, I love the feel of the JP6 so much but if the jp60 has the same neck (minus the birdseye maple) I'd rather save some money.

the neck on the Sterling JP has more shoulders - it;s a very comfortable D shape, While the MM JP has a this C shape...honestly although I have regular to small hands the sterling neck seemed a bit more comfortable to me.

frets are a little bit bigger on the Sterling , but that may be a good thing ...but you can't compare SS frets with nickel. I've said it in 2009 , 4 months here on forum after buying my JP that I noticed some wear already in them back then and got Mr Sterling upset, but SS is the only way to go honestly in feel and life expectancy of frets

I see Brian offers now excellent customer service, that is great, I wrote a few emails last year to themnot a reply ...will try again cause I have the same problem like others here with the 7 string breaking the high E string
Sterling prices in US are also very very tempting if that matter for you...
On the other hand MM customer service is STELLAR and not just saying that.
I've dealt with them in a few situation (currently trying to solve some issues I have with a new guitar) and they are fantastic (Billy was the person who took care of me - great person! )

I would take a used JP6 over the SBMM guitar if the price is right.... However, the SBMM guitars are killer for the price. I was going to get a SBMM before the wife ok'ed the EBMM Silo Spec. I am looking for a lefty SBMM for her though.
