Hi all,

I'm looking to add a second guitar to my EBMM L3 and I think I'm going to stick within the MM "family" of guitars. I would like to add a 7 string, but a EBMM is out of the rep of affordabilty.

The SBMM JP70 looks to be pretty solid value in the white or black at around $550. I could set it up with dimarzio pickups and still be under $750.

How are these guitars in terms of playabilty? I would be having to order it sight unseen as nobody local has one.

I've got the pearl white JP70D and it's dream to play. Shred central.....if I could shred, that is.

Where are you located? I might be able to tell you where there is one local to you.

North Central MA, I'm about about 30 minutes from Worcester MA.

How about an unsigned JP70D model? Where those a one off production? I contacted Alto music, but the one they had was a signed model and was already sold...

I believe that only a few of the 60 JP70D PWH made that were signed. I only have good things to say about this guitar. My first 7 stringer and I blended in right away. Superb playability and sound. But before buying one I suggest you wait for Brian to unveil the new models for 2015.

A good setup can make any guitar "play well". Swapping in some pickups would probably "seal the deal" so to speak. GL with your search!

Romania ...that's a country ...in Europe :))
I have one, playability is great, neck is great - though a little bit different in shape and feel than my JP7 ( which has a smaller neck) but a great neck for sure
the only potential problems stated here also might be with tremolo and tunning peg , breaking high E string.
definitely worth buying one if you want an affordable 7 string :)
I wanted to replace stock pickups but honestly I don't think it's worth it, they sound pretty good even compared to my JP7

Thank you.

If anyone knows of a store that has a JP70D PWH, please let me know! ( not really looking for a signed guitar )

Thank you.

There were only 60 of those made, and all of my dealers that got them in, to the best of my knowledge, sold out of them fairly quick.

On that note, twist my arm...Merry Christmas:

These will be debuted at Winter NAMM 2015, and will be available right after the show in the USA/Canada, and around March internationally. You see it here first, so if I start seeing this all over the web, I'll know it was one of you knuckleheads :)

Street Price is $849 USD

Merry Christmas Forumites!

Well, I guess that settles that :)

Will these be "limited" to a few like the previous JP70D or will they be more of a regular production model?

The only thing the JP70 is lacking is the block for the trem. the trem is FABULOUS as far as stability and intonation. Sustain could be improved with a larger block, imho. the guitar is all around FANTASTIC though, form, fit, finish,...it's GREAT!! The playability is very very good. The neck is comfortable from fret 1 to 24, it just fits my hand.

A really REALLY great aftermarket trem block is available from Stone Tone Guitars. I sent them one of each of our tremolos so that they could engineer units for each of them. Not sure on the price, but check them out here: Stone Tone Guitars® Music of the Earth® – Stone Tone®

Brian, is there a difference other than pickups and the finish / top from the JP70 to the JP170?
