Hey guys, I'm looking for a backup bass to my 2012 PDN Honey Roasted Bongo 5HH, and I've got my eyes (and budget) set on a SBMM Ray35. I know the inherent differences between the Bongo and the Stingray, both of which I'm very familiar. But what should I expect to be different between an American Stingray and the SBMM Stingray? Obviously one is half the price, so there must be a few changes. I've heard nothing but good reviews on them, and I can't tell a tonal difference over computer speakers between the 2 basses. Stingray owners chime in! I'd love to hear what you found similar and different. Either way, I'm gonna grab one of these SBMM basses and post pics. Thanks a bunch!

P.S. Will EBMM Stingray pickguards fit SBMM Stingrays?

Pickguards are not interchangeable. I had a Ray 34ca and loved it. It was (still is, it remains in the band) a wonderful instrument. There are slight differences, the PG being one and the slab body is another, but that never bothered me at all. Highly recommended as a back-up or even a gigging bass. Great, great values!
