Early-Mid 90's = yup
Black = yup
3EQ = yup
Birdseye maple unfinished neck= yup
Flea Bridge = up
Under 9 pounds = yup!
Under $900 = yup
GIANTS won = yup!!

1994 Ray joins the Shelter. After 2 nights of filing off fret ends, dressing frets,
"torting", oil/wax neck and set-up, this one's probably in my top 2 . .
So, sharing pics of this fine instrument:

Thanks guys
& keep the faith Jack, Giants will win the Superbowl!

Yes Oli, I'm not ready for refretting anytime soon but I'm SO glad I learned
how to take care of fret ends, polishing/leveling. Instruction is out there on-line
and all it take is patience and a steady hand. My results have been incredible,
so smooth. If I can do it, anyone can, just a small investment in time/tools:
Fret File
Dressing Stick
Finishing Pads
Guards

Hey Moondog,

It's a lot more satisfying when you do your own work too I have found. Would you agree? I originally got into set ups because I was tired of being charged huge money and being let down. I went a bit obsessive and ended up apprenticing with a luthier for 2 years, but I am very grateful for the experience. I believe it made me a better bassist as well.

Once again, great score!

Yes, without a doubt it's more satisfying doing your own work, medicinal,
inexpensive, and good stress relief too.

I've learned how to do the simple things myself cause I always hated to
part w/my gear and have someone else screw w/my stuff. If someone's
gonna mess it up let it me! never feel that it's truely really mine until I've
effed w/it . . .disassembled, assembled, and set it up how I like it ;)

I've got to agree - and reinforce Ken's approach.

Most of the time we're not talkin' rocket science or brain surgery...

With the right reference (e.g. book) and the right tools, you're 90% there. And you have the satisfaction of doing the job right and caring for your instrument like no other will.

It freaks me out when I hear of a guy calling the Super to hang the new blinds...

When I first read that, I thought you were saying it's more satisfying doing your own medicinal work. "Honey, hand me the scalpel." :)

Well, I do take out my own stiches, so . . .
No way I'm paying for a expensive doctor's office visit to snip some stiches
and pull'em out. Sh*t, I'd even stitch myself but I stopped drinking
~ would prefer not to do that sober . . .

Nice combo!

Amen to that Mark, know you've been there, done that, but nothing
beats the black & chrome combo IMO . .
My Harley pays tribute to this combo as well.

I'm usually not one to "tort" but it really looks the best on black.

BTW, the bass DOES sound incredible, didn't mention that,
assumed that goes without saying

Thanks y'all.
