Hello! I am new to the EB Forums, and I figure this would be the best place to have this question answered.

I'm saving hard for a Stingray bass, and I'm curious about tone consistency across the stingray line. A good example is Luis' bass tone in this vid [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMOZUDLUMpM"]YouTube - Shaaman : 15.- Carry On (Angra cover) (live)[/ame].
Now Im wondering if the standard stingrays deliver the same tone and playablilty (neck shape, ease of the fretboard) from the different ones. And I noticed some have a toggle switch. Is the toggle switch a huge bonus, or just a small feature? So basically if I purchase a four string musicman will I have practically the same tone and ease of the fretboard then that particular 5 string model?

That's an older Stingray 5, if you want that tone in a 4 string get a single H Sterling. It has the same pickups and the toggle switch too.

SR5's and Sterling basses are in the same sonic family, Stingrays and Bongos are also very good but a little different.

I play a four string stingray with duel pickups, hence it has a toggle switch. I love it!!! I personally bought it for that reason so that I could switch between pick up settings and get a different tone quickly without making adjustments to any of my tone controls. Try one, you'll like it.
