The switch routing is cooool and very practical in many ways. Hard to fix it under the hood! There has to be a metal plate or something, like in the 70 ies Givesons. Love it.

What in the world? I remember when the JP BFR was first announced that it was called the F1. This seems more F1 with that carbon fiber look. Interesting.

Carbon fiber...also inspired by bmw? ;-)

We know so far: it´s a six string, without locking nut but with compensated nut, so the Majesty will not have ein FR-Trem, but problably will have the known Petrucci-Trem. It´s no suprise, that JP wants a H-H-Combo, for technical reasons. But I wonder, for what purpose the Mini-Switch is built in (Coilsplitting, I don´t think so; Piezo-PU-Selector, maybe ;-)

Mr. BP, just Musicman has the Balls to cobinate a carbonfiber-finish with a mattle blue headstock ;-) I can understand what Luke meant, when he mentioned that the guitar is wild. But I think it will be a great guitar. So far: Thumbs up!

You have my attention sir! If that is in fact carbon fiber it looks as though it very subtly transitions from what looks to be a matte black finish into the more textured carbon fiber goodness. This guitar is driving me nuts! This will be one for the books. Bravo!

Another thing. If that is indeed the 3 way pickup selector, it looks to me as if they recessed it into the body a bit. Talk about taking cues from luxury vehicles. To me, this is the equivalent of having a short shifter in the guitar. There are many benefits to having a short shifter in your car which surprisingly, aligns with the needs of experienced guitar players like John. Here are some benefits to a short shifter:

Easy gear selection

The most obvious benefit of a shorter shifter is the shorter throw between each gear selection. In this regard, the shorter your stick, the shorter the distance your stick must travel between each selected gear. This means that your car will run more quickly--the gears will fall into place with a much greater fluidity. (These benefits are easily transferable to the benefits of a micro switch.)

Transmission Life

A shorter shifter can also lengthen the life of your car's transmission because it makes it much more difficult to "over-shift" the gear; over-shifting is a cause of shift fork damage. Car owners who are looking for cost-effective longevity upgrades can consider shorter shifters to prevent transmission problems.

Aesthetics

A shorter stick is just gaudy and cumbersome than larger variations. Depending on the make of the vehicle, a standard throw can be anywhere from 8 to even more than 20 inches. Shorter shifters allow for more space center counsel and between the front seat space. Additionally, shorter stick length increases the durability of the shifter itself because more stress is placed on longer shafts.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but, the evidence is right there. It just makes sense. Considering Johns control and flawless technique. I don't see why he wouldn't want something like this.

Or is it just a carbonfiber look film on the guitar to cover up the real exterior.... (just like new car models are covered up when they are taken out for a test drive) Hahaha, speculation rules!

After careful examination of the curvature of what's presumed to be wood, above the mystery switch, it would suggests that there is in fact no cover and that is indeed the color of the body alongside what looks to be carbon fiber. I'm very interested in seeing how they blend the very loud headstock with the very muted matte finish. It is such a dynamic color scheme. :)

The switch could very well be a 5 way. Counting the middle position as 1, there looks to be 4 additional grooves Two on either side of the micro switch. I could be really, really wrong here but, I'm trying to dissect everything that could potentially be. My gut tells me that it's only a 3 way but, looking at the past JP has been interested in a 5 way blade (JPX). If they somehow are able to get 5 different positions into the form factor of a 3 way blade that would ad two additional tones effortlessly all while alleviating what some found to be an issue with picking while the 5 way blade was in the neck position due to not having a small picking radius. I personally never have this problem since the JPX is the guitar used to learn the guitar but, I can see how it maybe a problem for others.

I don't know if they would try and develop something like that though. As far as I know JP has always used 3 way selectors. Even in his Ibanez days that's what he had.

+1, specially with the "things may not be as they appear" comment from BP. Well, let's see :)
