Well, we've had five or six actual rehearsals and figured we could pull off a quick live gig. We were very nearly correct, too.

Here's a short clip from last Saturday night. The audio is not great because it was recorded with the little mic on the video camera, but hey, it's just for fun anyway.

Right?

And my Bongo looks good anyway:

Lookin'/Soundin' good, Jack.

And, it's nice to see that the other guys in the band acknowledge that the man with the Bongo gets center stage. :D

Jack,

That was a fun little video! The Bongo took its proper place at front and center.
Now can you talk to those boys on either side of you? They're playing non-EBMM guitars, which should be cause for removal from Cowpilot! ;)

Seriously, it's cool when someone remembers to bring the video camera. I have almost no pics or videos from gigs, and I've played enough of them that I ought to..

I have a gig on the 14th. I have never seen the venue. Drummer booked the gig (which tells you just how much I'm dreading what I might be walking into). Anyway, I'll see if we can't get someone to take some pics or vids so that I can post something, too.

It's great to see Music Man instruments in action!

I think the soundman must have been a frustrated lead guitarist because he had Chris so loud.

And no, they aren't EBMM guitars, but that Gretsch that Chris plays is purdy nice.

And that Tele? That's mine - I built that sucker in my garage (never again).

You ain't kidding.. the rest of the band is mixed pretty well, but that Gretsch is just cranked WAY too loud... and this is coming from me, a guitarist! ;)

Or maybe the soundman was a drummer, and simply didn't happen upon Chris' fader in his random warbling of knobs... :D

And the stage volume of that Gretsch was cool, too, so we had no idea.

BTW, he plays through one of those ancient Gibson amps.

Me: "Geez, Chris, how old is that amp?"

Chris: "Oh, about 70 years old now."

Me: "Don't you think it's about time to get a new amp?"

He doesn't see it, though.

Does it still have the original speaker? I'd think it would have turned to dust by now.

I think he stole that amp from Chuck Berry! (and a few licks, too) ;)

That's okay, though. My singer has played guitar for decades. He never owned an electric until this year when I made him buy one of mine. He will probably never own an amp.

He *has* owned an acoustic for a few decades, and I think he may have changed the strings on it one or two times. Laughing, are you? I'm not joking! You could probably carbon date the flesh clinging to his acoustic strings...

I don't know about the speaker, Jason. Chris likes esoteric stuff and occasionally sells off all his electric gear to buy some multi-million dollar rare gypsy acoustic or something.

Looking and sounding good! and the bongo looks great "on". or maybe that's just the bassist. Or maybe a good stetson is required.

Too Cool!!! Makes me want to shoot a version and post it.

Regarding the Gretsch - It may have been the mic in the camera (as opposed to the sound man - not that I'm defending the sound man). Those mics don't have much range though. And that 70 year old amp sounded just great to me (coming from a guy who plays through a 35 year old Bassman and a 43 year old Deluxe reverb).
