If the mods were that good - why is he getting rid of it?

Still it's his guitar and he can do what he likes.

A lot of people would baulk at what I did to my 74 Les Paul, but in those days we didn't know any different - Demazio and then Seymour Duncan pickups found their way over the pond and we put em in. Owners routed their Gold top Les Pauls to install humbuckers ... etc

I could have my Les paul put back to it's early state by one of the best luthiers in the UK who happens to work on Stradivarius violins - but that will cost me one hell of a lot .... as it would cost for anybody to put this Axis back to"original". It is what it is - in some eyes an ugly guitar but to some others an acceptable item. It'll find it's price in the marketplace but I would guess not achieve the price of an original?

I honestly don't think it is that bad.

If anybody wanted synth access AND an Axis then it seems like a pretty good solution to me. Surely the knobs could be colour-matched quite easily?

The Graphtec ghost system is quite highly rated and expensive to buy and install so I think some of you are being a little too precious about this tbh.

I'm not a mod my guitar beyond what is easily repairable kind of guy. I'll swap pickups or something like that... But drilling holes isn't my thing. This could have been done so much cleaner

Oddly I have never modded one of my EBMM guitars.

I would agree Simon if perhaps it was done to a less pretty Axis but to drill holes in that top is sacrilege! To Spuds point, all of this work was done in the last six months or so, so if the results were really all that then I'm sure it wouldn't be for sale now - at a very high price too I might add. My ex will stay my ex!

Oh for sure Steve, that top is way too pretty to drill into, I couldn't have done it myself.

When I was into guitar synth stuff one thing that bugged me is that none of my Musicman guitars had synth access which meant using a roland-ready strat which I found quite irritating as it didn't sound or play anywhere near as nice as my Axis or JP6 which I was using at the time. I tended to use mostly layered sounds where the guitar output was blended with the synth so the sound of the guitar remained important to me in that respect which is why this one appealed to me (but not enough to buy!)

TBH I sold all my roland gear a while ago so I don't know why I was even thinking about it!
