sweet ... so Green Day is playing at the Warefield Theatre in SF tonight. Pretty small venue compared to the stadium tour they just went on.

Tickets sold out in about a minute but thankfully i got some (God bless the fiber optic connection at work :)).

I dunno if my buddy is still playing 2nd guitar for em ... havent been able to get a hold of him. Backstage passes woulda been sweet but im jsut stoked to see em again.

Last night i saw Green Day ... might be the best show ive ever been to.

They played for 3 HOURS jesus!

ok ... before the show i saw my friend Mike who's playing 2nd guitar w/ em. we hung out for a while. good to catch up w/ that guy. seeing him on stage with Green Day was a trip. and to make **** funnier i was wearning my enemies shirt. LoL. totally random coincidence. good times.

Mike told me the set was all of the songs on the American Idiot CD back to back then a few old songs ... Well, that was what was planned but thats not what happened. Sure they played all of American Idiot and a few more songs but then Billie Joe went crazy. He declared that he was gonna "play all f'in night". So that led to "the rest of the show". LOL

The rest was 100% unplanned and you could tell. Billie would run to people in between songs and tell em what's next. he'd randomly go into really old stuff off 1039 and Kerplunk, then hop into an Ozzy song, then some sweet home Alabama, then Stand By me, then "make me wanna shout". he'd like motion for Mike and Jason to come on for a random song, wave at the trumpet guy to come on ... just complete unplanned craziness. They took crowd requests ... lots of random Green Day songs whoes names even I dont know were played, some Ramones.

At one point the piano dude started We Are the Champions which is how they end sets now ... but 20 seconds into it Billie was all like "f*** that ... we've been playing for 2.5 hours, lets make it 3 hour". Then he busted into 2000 light years away. Next they were all confused and you could tell they were trying to remember how to play a song. The piano guy's all like "its in E" and Billie's all like "isnt it E minor" ... then Mike corrects em and they're all like "well, we dunno how to play this but we will anywaya ... Rock the Casbah". LOL

it was the bomb. totally energetic n raw. Tre Cool sang a few songs too. LOL. pretty rad.

and to top it off their other band "The Network" opened up for them too ... so the guys pretty much played for like 4 hours.

crazy and awesome. my Fedora had the best bday ever
