OK....since my "retirement".....I am still not employed and have been enjoying the time off. Basically spending time with the family and taking a well deserved vacation with the misses. I have declined a few job offers and have been declined.....oh well, their loss I say!

Since then, I have sat down with the guitar more than ever. I mean, can't take it with me in my past job, so I would be without for months on end. Obviously, when I saw an axe, I would pick it up, but, not what I would call practice.

Well, I have been spending hours a day on the guitar. The cool part hit me today. I am "seeing" the fretboard differently. I am getting to find where I am at and where I want to be more readily. Hard to describe really.....almost feels like a new level has been reached. Kinda neat to sit back and know I am getting somewhere.

On a side note, I am looking at taking some classical lessons at a local college. That should be interesting as long as I can take the class. I love classical and kbaim has that finger style that I love....so, I might as well learn it.

Life is good.

Looking forward to hearing you play some classical stuff in January then.
Including the Pag 5 in its entirety if possible.

And some more of your original stuff!

Koogs there are few things more rewarding than the path on the guitar! You deserve it...
maybe you can make an ass out of yourself like me someday and play it on the floor!

Ahhhhh grasshopper :p Sounds like you are finding the "path" you are ment to be on.

I moved over to Dubai for 2 reasons. 1--a career choice ans a step in the right direction.

2. To be able to spend more time with my family.

Eventhough I cant get balls and decent amps over here, all you guys keep me sane and chuckling through the heat.

Cheers K

and cheer to you all.

Jonny.

BP, that avatar is too funny!
I've got to start thinking about a new one too!

As far as practicing is concerned-I remember joining a 20 piece swing band. Very big project and very challenging charts. It FORCED me to:

a) play better
b) read better
c) listen better

What more could you ask for?

I took some classical guitar classes at college about 12 years ago and it was really good for my reading skills and general musicianship.Technique wise it wasn't too advanced until I got to the third class(guitar ensemble)Good Luck........

kbaim.....I am hoping to get into class soon. I have to check the schedule and see if it is even an option. I'm hoping sooo.....I have been working the Pag piece so I can play it for ya! Look forward to January.

Big Poppa....I would love to make an ass out of myself having fun. Guitar=rewarding. That is true and thanks for building us the best guitars on the planet! Hope to see you in January as well.

Raz....I basically called it quits. Can't really get into it. I am currently unemployed at the moment and getting some quality time with the ones who sacrificed the most....my wife and daughter. Yeah.....I'm "old".....36 to be exact. ;)

Ernie....I will definitely see you next month. That is already in the works. I am talking to OC about it....hope it works in his schedule as well. You will certainly get a visit from me....count on it! Appreciate the offer on the books...might take you up on that.

Jonny Dubai....I have been there (Dubai) several times. I love that place. One of the few places in the Mid East that I actually like.

Thanks to all for the encouragement.....we'll see.....sink or swim I say! heheheh..

Sounds great Koogie. If anyone desevrves some down time to sit back and enjoy a bit of life while finding new aspects to pursue life's pleasures its you.

Although, have you thought about writing. With your previous experience and current past time, I'm thinking a thinly veiled roman-a-clef about the perfect secret agent. Rock star by night, undercover operative by day.

You could be the suave J.P. Silo - code name Stingray. The world sees you as lead guitar player for Albert and the Bongos.... but.... as you travel the world on tour...breaking as many hearts as strings ..... you spend the days with TEAM AXIS under the tutelage of the mysterious Big Poppa keeping the world safe for democracy and foiling the plots of the evil empire Fenson....Incorporating in both activities your thorough knowledge of Morse both code and solos. :D

Just a thought :)

LOL I love it! Great start. Hmmm... The neck of his guitar could be a secret weapon or have one hidden in it. Guitar could have a GPS knob to locate all EB gear, another one that doubles as a compass, yet another with a shot of Ketel, the possibilities are endless. What about the "secret flame" he could refer to?

What's also fun is to slow dance while BP is playing on the floor.
